SPEAKER_02We uh We're from a small town in Kentucky, Hopkinsville, Kentucky. We have a local legend that recently passed away. So we just wanted to start this pod out. Rest in peace, bird dog, man. With yeah, R.I.P. Bird Dog.
SPEAKER_01My man used to ride his llamo around town. Yeah. Walk around barking at people. Just brought joy to a bunch of people. Local legend, bird dog, man. He used to always come into my job and I and like bark and customers would like start freaking out. Like it's funny because a lot of people that I work with like aren't from here. So like they drive up from Clarksville. It's like their first interact, like interaction with this guy is like they're just like, What the fuck is that?
SPEAKER_02And we're just like, it's bird dog, man. Seems I mean it's probably an appropriate response.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But I mean, like, you you know, it's one of those things you just kind of if you don't know, you won't get it.

SPEAKER_02Well, let's get this bad boy rolling. We got some breaking news out of Minnesota.
SPEAKER_01Kyler Murray.
SPEAKER_02Is the start. I don't know if it's actually breaking news. I don't know. I mean, the last two days they were like juicing up JJ McCarthy, but for what? We can see some of the film.

SPEAKER_02Wasn't great. And it's also like you can't, you gotta kind of name a starter.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm actually some like I feel like we kind of knew this, like this moment that they signed him that he was gonna be the starter.

SPEAKER_01But they acted as if it was an actual quarterback position, quarter competition. So since it was, let's treat it like it. Out top perspective, if it took this long to actually name Kyler Murray the starting quarterback, it goes to show. I don't know. I personally wouldn't feel excited if I was a Vikings fan today.
SPEAKER_02What happens to JJ McCarthy?
SPEAKER_01I mean, I I mean I feel like Well these days, these days everybody gets the oh, well, maybe he can go be the next Sam Darnold at the next spot. Or so or Jerry Gaul. Here's the problem.
SPEAKER_02Here's the problem is he's like with one of the quarterback whispers. And he's trash.
SPEAKER_01So it's not But I I mean I felt this way about JJ McCarthy coming out of college. Like he didn't do enough coming out of college. He didn't do enough in college to like people were hyping him up as if he was about to be like the best quarterback out of the class.
SPEAKER_02You know what the real this is the real problem? I would have probably named this is I don't know, maybe this is a hot take. I don't feel like it is though, just off of the like I would have probably named JJ the starter, just because like off of the off chance that he did dramatically improve. Like, okay, great, now you have your starting quarterback. And then if it's still the same old JJ McCarthy, you're like, oh well, we got Kyler Murray waiting in the wings. Like, but the this is also the thing, it's like you know what Kyler Murray is, too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean he's not I I mean it'll be exciting to see him with with Jeddahs with Jettas and Jordan Addison, TJ Hawkinson. Like it'll be nice to see him with a much better like team around him altogether.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, but I'm I don't think that they make noise. They'll have a great defense. Yeah, I mean they're gonna win games, but I don't they're not a real contender by any means.
SPEAKER_01They could um like they could, you know, be one of those teams that I feel like could be a you know, like how they were last year, were they eight, nine, nine, and eight? Yeah. I can see them being right around that level. Is that not crazy though? I mean, it's impressive when you think about how bad like the quarterback play was for them last year. Awful. But and he won like the last five games. Yeah, but it's not like he was great. No, he wasn't games. So he was.
SPEAKER_02He wasn't great.
SPEAKER_01If you're just getting packed around by your defense, now you insert Kyler Murray. I feel like as a Minnesota fan, when they make that sign and you're like, oh shit, we won nine games last year without a quarterback. We should be a 10-19. A quarterback. I mean, Kyler Murray's nothing special, but let's just say Kyler Murray's the 20th best quarterback versus the 32nd worst quarterback. Like the worst quarterback in the league or 31st ranked quarterback, whatever.
SPEAKER_02Is Will Levis better than JJ Bacard?
SPEAKER_01I I don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I he did say there wasn't 32 quarterbacks better than him. Maybe he was right. That just I mean, that just goes to show how bad quarterback play has like gotten. Is it uh I mean that's pretty much all I have on that. I shout out Kyler Murray. Congratulations to him. He winning a job. He won the job. We kind of saw that coming.
SPEAKER_01Kobe Bryant's out four to six months.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, knee surgery. That's tough. Do you think that there's like a QB development problem in the NFL?
SPEAKER_01Yes, but I don't know if it's necessarily starting at the NFL, though. I think that it is more so starting at the college level. Yeah, John Gruden. Look at how shitty, like the even like the top quarterback play, like they're not running pro-style offenses anymore. Like when you're everything's RPO and you ever see John Gruden talk about in the shotgun. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He talks about like how they don't like, you know, they're not at her giving cadence.
SPEAKER_01They're not real or or real fucking plays. Like you just look over the sideline, you see four pictures and and eight different cards and they're showing you the plays.
SPEAKER_02He's like, you guys are just clapping to hike the ball.
SPEAKER_01You're not doing anything. So like that's where I feel like it, but it it's the same thing across it's similar to like basketball. It could, I guess it but it but it feels like partially it's only the quarterback position in the NFL. That seems like it's taking a hit. Like, I feel like wide receiver plays better than it's ever been, defenses are better. I feel like in as far as like the elite talent goes is better than it's ever been.
SPEAKER_02Like the high end, like I mean, you see what they're saying about Caleb Downs. Like like they're talking about this guy's gonna be the best safety in the NFL day one. Yeah, as a rookie. It's insane.
SPEAKER_01Which I mean, look, they've been talking about him like that for a while. He uh he does have that just and it's also the reason, and part of it too, though, I feel like if you're looking at it from just the NFL standpoint, is it is it like who's at fault? Is it a coaching development? The problem with it is it it's all driven by like immediate success. Like if you're the worst team in the league and for some reason you draft a quarterback number one, you like you're supposed to take this team immediately. Like the expectation feels like okay, we drafted a quarterback number one, he's sick as fuck, gotta be. So like now there should be a playoff team. Yeah, like they act like all this stuff happens when it's it's not the thing. And even more often than not, when you see that happens, it's a little flash in the pan. Like you see, Pat Mahomes, yes, he came in, he sat for a year, but like they come in, you you're not great as a rookie, so like you a coach ends up getting fired. And then now you're learning another system. So like you're not getting time to actually develop. Honestly, this might be a hot take. I feel like if you're drafting a quarterback, everybody in that regime needs to be gone. GM, coach, quarterback, all brand new. We have a system, it's the duration of their your leash is the duration of your rookie quarterback contract. I mean, it's not a horrible idea. You give like there's no patience, and there's always a new system coming in, and you're coming from a college system that's not built to have you ready to be a pro when you come into being a pro. And then you've got to immediately learn a new system.
SPEAKER_02Like it's Is this why Bill Belichick's not successful at North Carolina? He's going in there, he doesn't. He doesn't want to run, he doesn't want to run the clap style offenses and stuff. He's like, he's like, look, man, you're gonna have to learn an offense if you come here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and you would think in that theory, like, I would rather go there. Well, like if I was a college athlete, I would rather go and well, which I mean, Bill Belichick is the same person that put a defensive coordinator as an offensive coordinator with a quarterback after he was a pro bowler. That's true. So uh, you know, he just got bit Bill just got lucky with Tom. He did every, I mean, every I expect North Carolina's defense to be good. Everybody should strike gold once. Yeah. Bill struck gold with Tom. I mean, he struck more than gold. Shit, you got hit with a diamond. Lots of diamonds. Buddy.
SPEAKER_02We uh let's see, what else we got? Luther Burden hurt. He hurt his groin, expected to be back for week one, but they said he'll miss at least a month. See, high reaching.
SPEAKER_01Because like you come in, you miss camps, and now you're gonna have like the conditioning aspects of it, like getting back into game shape, which I mean, fortunately for you from a dynasty perspective, like in fantasy, you're you don't need the production from Luther Burden, but there are some people that were banking on him.
SPEAKER_02I look, I mean, he did get the he was there for two weeks or so. It certainly affects he he was there for the installs and stuff like that, so I'm not terribly worried about that. I do not like the fact that he wasn't getting reps. But I mean, you know, you hope that he was integrated enough into the offense to where it won't really matter. They just want him to be healthy. Yeah, what else do we have?
SPEAKER_01Uh Devon Han. About to set a record for touches in a season.
SPEAKER_0240 to 45 carry. This guy is like 5'8, 5'9, 170 pounds.
SPEAKER_01Like he is they're about to feed him like Derrick Henry. Which I mean, hell. If this is true, he's gonna die. He's probably the only player on the roster that the coach knows. He's like, I know HM, we'll just find a way to get him to die.
SPEAKER_02I know you've seen some of these videos coming out of Dolphins camp with Malik Willis.
SPEAKER_01They're saying they're saying. I saw a Titans fan page today saying, but I can't believe these people thought that Will Levis was better than him.
SPEAKER_02I saw that too.
SPEAKER_01Look. We knew that Malik Willis was going to be a project coming out of college. So we were expecting it to take some time, but let's just not act like he's Lamar. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I agree with that statement. I look, I hope that Malik Willis is successful personally. What is successful for Malik Willis? Oh, if he could if he could play off this contract and get another big one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's Buddy. What imagine the record that the Dolphins would have to have to continue to rock with Malik Willis?
SPEAKER_02Uh they can be bad and he still be successful.
SPEAKER_01That's possible. If they're a two-win football team, number one pick, you that you think they're not they're gonna roll with Malik Willis.
SPEAKER_02We would have said like you say that looking at the record, but we went through that same thing last year, and there was like you saw Cam Ward and you were like, yeah, this guy's got it.
SPEAKER_01Right, but Malik Willy.
SPEAKER_02If he has that same type of season, I couldn't I'm not saying it's right or wrong. I'm saying that I could see Jeff Halfley if he keeps his job being like, no, that's our guy.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I feel like you I feel like there's just no way you fire a coach for having a bad first year with this roster.
SPEAKER_02That would almost be criminal. That's also fair too. It would but you know what else is before.
SPEAKER_01If you gave a coach this roster and was like, all right, make it or break it.
SPEAKER_02You know what else is criminal? Giving Devon H and 40 or 45 carry set a guy, just opportunities in general. That's and it's not that he's not good, like he is good, like he is good enough to do that. He's just not big enough. Yeah, he's a skinnier version of me.
SPEAKER_01A lot of yeah, I mean he's not I mean he's very fast.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yeah, very fast. I get he's got some muscle to him, don't get it twisted, but I'm saying, like, bro, like he's he's he's gonna be getting fucking rocked by 6'2, 230 linebackers on a regular basis. Like, it's just not a recipe for success.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but then again, I mean, look, they got Bobby Slowick.
SPEAKER_02That's I mean, he fizzled out pretty hard.
SPEAKER_01He's calling his back, he's about to come back.
SPEAKER_02Look what he's got to work with.
SPEAKER_01They pointed to A-Chan as a foundational building block, which is true. You know, they put their money where their mouth was with the extension. Jeff Hafley says A-Chan is a dynamic player. I think he's one of the best at his position in the game, whether it's in the backfield or catching the ball from the backfield, lining up as a wide receiver wherever we put him. So I'm excited about that. I would agree with that statement. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like I would agree with that.
SPEAKER_01But when your wide receiver room is Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell, couple rookies that are yeah. And and then you got uh Malik Washington.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we're cool on him.
SPEAKER_01You know what I'm saying? Like, I mean, I'm so sick of it. How do you get those players the ball five, six times a game, anyways?
SPEAKER_02Like you look, legitimately, Chris Bell's nice. The ACL scares the shit out of me. Yeah, but he's not back yet. He's not back yet. Like, you know, like he had some first round grades coming out. They got him in the third, so to me it's a steal. I also liked Caleb Douglas personally out of Texas Tech. Dog. I thought he was a dog.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you're not expecting him to come out and yes, the exactly. Like, do I think that he's George Pickens or a CD Lamb or Yeah, but the thing is with George Pickens is is Pickens was a first round talent. Like he fell because he was a fucking menace. Yeah, he might box you in the middle of the play. He might box you in the middle of the play. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm just saying, like, I don't expect like I don't expect Caleb, like I don't think Caleb Douglas has that type of ceiling.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02Like I think that he could be a good wide receiver two, wide receiver three.

SPEAKER_02And if you're lucky, if you're lucky and Chris Bell comes back and his knee's not jacked for the rest of his life because he had some shit rehab, because it's been a minute. Like he's like, I mean, I think it happened in like December, November, maybe I think is when it was. I mean, you got Patrick Mahomes gonna start week one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but then you also got Micah Parsons. Micah Parsons coming back four or five weeks later.
SPEAKER_02Um Tucker Kraft, though, torn ACL. I think it was November as well. It's I mean, he's gonna be back week one. So it's just it's it seems to be a little odd. It is, it is odd. Like, especially, you know, especially with a guy with his type of tension.
SPEAKER_01That's one of those things that kind of like you said, it concerns you because it's just like, why is it why is your I feel like it you get concerned when the like process of getting back is longer than you're expecting.
SPEAKER_02100%. Especially like when you start hearing things about like rehab not going like they thought it would and shit like that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or like like another example, like Pat, like you said, like they're like he's talking like, man, we expect him to be Patrick Mahomes week one. Right. Which I think is crazy, right? I think you do too. Yeah, I mean it's hard for I mean you don't expect that with anybody, regardless of age, position, any of that, to tear your ACL in seven months expecting you to be the football player that you were.
SPEAKER_02It's like Daniel Jones saying that he's gonna be back week two.
SPEAKER_01I don't expect if Daniel Jones is back week one, cool. Look, I'll concede that battle. I'll you won that one clearly, because it looks like he's back. But here's the problem.
SPEAKER_02He's not gonna play in any preseason game.
SPEAKER_01If Daniel Jones comes back, how what is he?
SPEAKER_02Like if where is he compared to what he was?
SPEAKER_01Exactly. If he comes back and he's terrible, and we're talking about the we're talking about the Colts at one and six to start the season.
SPEAKER_02Looks like they're gonna be in the orange band.
SPEAKER_01At that point, what do you do? Well, they paid Danny. Didn't they? So so what? You draft a quarterback? Or do you or do you look at it and say, well, Daniel Jones has been, you know, he's coming back second year from his Achilles?
SPEAKER_02I think it was a three-year deal. Yeah. There's probably a this is the first year of it. There's probably a ticker to get out of year three. You could probably, you know, get out. So he'd sit back there for a year. Yes. Maybe he would start for a year. Who knows?
SPEAKER_01But but you know, if if but let's just say he starts out and they ride with him and he turns around and start playing better, obviously you're like, okay, he just wasn't healthy.
SPEAKER_02If he if he comes out and like say he's like the Daniel Jones of the first eight weeks of last season, do we have to reevaluate how we look at an Achilles injury?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, kinda. Like from Daniel Jones comes back and he's at that level or better. I am going to be completely shocked because at this point he's torn his ACL twice, he's torn his Achilles, and he still manages to come back and play at a high level, higher level than he ever played in his career. I would be shocked.
SPEAKER_02Medical science is on the up and up.
SPEAKER_01I would almost come in and it'd be like Tommy John in baseball, like, let's get this shit out of the way. I need you back. Let's come in to practice, just take an axe to the Achilles, let's get you out for the year.

SPEAKER_02I I have something I kind of want to talk about here. Alright. So the Bills hosted a scrimmage at their in their training camp in their new stadium.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02And I don't know, I'm sure people have seen this all over the internet. But this stadium was $2.2 billion. Bro. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Dude, I can't. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02There is I I think I counted like six different spots in the stadium that were unwatchable. Like you couldn't see it. So uh these are like the most like the prevalence of the issues is this is what I saw.
SPEAKER_01The glass and like the like blo right in front of the seats was crazy.
SPEAKER_02Crazy. That that wasn't even the worst seat. That's the crazy part. I've seen the video boards. Somebody said that the video boards are like having a 42-inch TV in a room the size of a gym.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, bro. I saw those dogs. It's bad.
SPEAKER_02The the obstructed view seats, which we just talked about, they said that the traffic in and out of the stadium is gonna be a real issue.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. They said I feel like that's every I feel like.
SPEAKER_02So the canopy that they built was supposed to keep people from the rain. You remember that? Yeah. Apparently it's not as expansive as they thought. And the way that they built, do you remember this? The way that they built the stadium was supposed to like shield the wind from field level.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You remember that? Yeah. This is apparently not the case. Apparently the wind was strongly felt at field level. For $2.2 billion.
SPEAKER_01Bro, who's at fault for this?
SPEAKER_02That's a great question. I don't know. I'm gonna blame Brandon Bean.

SPEAKER_02I think he's a certified dickhead, so I think we should probably started cutting corners.

SPEAKER_02I think we should definitely blame him. And then you probably should blame the owner who seems to be equally as a dickhead as Brandon Bean is. I'm still salty over the shot. Yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_01Spending $2.2 billion and like, and look, I feel like and what's crazy about it is it seems like I couldn't exactly tell, but it seems as if some of the shittiest views were coming from places where I wouldn't expect the view to be shitty. It would, it's already bad enough. I'm sitting in the fucking sky. Yeah, like you're telling me that like I'm fucking sitting in the in an upper level seat, and there's and like I can't even see the field. Like I can't even see the field.
SPEAKER_02It is bro.
SPEAKER_01There were some pictures that I saw where you literally could see like nothing on the field.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there was one that I saw. It was it seemed like it was in the corner. It was like right when the upper upper deck started, and it was a seat right below it. Yeah. And like you couldn't see the entire right half of the field.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I was just like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_01And you know there's gonna be somebody that's gonna buy these tickets to this game. No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_02I don't even know if that's the worst part. Here's what I think the worst part is, right? Is put yourself, you're a person that is on the season ticket list for the Titans new stadium, correct? Not anymore. Okay. Well, you were. I was going to be.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you were the guy never called me back. So if you're in the Tennessee Titans ticket office, I was gonna buy PSLs. The guy never called me back. So call me back. I still want him. Call me back. I'm not coming to y'all, though. You gotta come to me.
SPEAKER_02So imagine you, you know, the stadium isn't built yet, but you have to buy these tickets before the stadium is.
SPEAKER_01Well, so so I can give you a little bit of detail of what goes into this. Because I went through the entire process of becoming a seasoned ticket holder, other than actually purchasing the ticket. And I would have if the dude would have just called me back the day I told him to call me back. Right. So when they're building the stadium, like you come in and they essentially like you go there, they've got like the model of the stadium that kind of shows like exactly like bro, they'll take you to literally like they have like a demo built almost of what your seat will kind of look like.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01You they have all these renderings and all of that other stuff that's in there. So you can literally pretty essentially they give you a presentation that literally essentially shows you what your seat looks like exactly that seat to the stadium.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And to be honest with you, that makes it even worse. Because imagine.
SPEAKER_01There's no way they fucking showed you that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like imagine being shown one thing and then you get there for a pull up to your seat and that's fucking the seat.
SPEAKER_01Oh, brother. I mean, you're I'd probably burn the ticket office down. You would want your money back. And then I don't know. Fuck that. I want my you're gonna give me this seat. Yeah, I'm gonna get my money back, but you're gonna give me this seat for free forever.

SPEAKER_02They're not gonna for perpetuity. This is the problem though. Is and I get what you're saying, like because it's the purpose of it. Like the fact that you would do this is one a dickhead move to begin with. Because you knew, like you, you know, like you knew before anyone that before that training camp game or screaming ever happened. Yeah, exactly. Like you've walked around this stadium, you've seen these seats that are obstructed.
SPEAKER_01You could have had the opportunity to fix this.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and you were like, no, send it. And they're gonna sell the like because there's no way, like, no PSL person, no PSL holder is gonna take those seats.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So they'll be sold on Ticketmaster, yeah, or in the box office, or whatever the case may be.
SPEAKER_01It's gonna be someone that barely has the money to make this trip to watch this one game.
SPEAKER_02100%. And they are gonna have zero idea about this. And they're gonna get in that stadium and they're gonna get fucking jed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it is beyond petty.
SPEAKER_01Well, did you see that they came out and said that they're going to address it? How? That's what I'm that's what I'm thinking. How are you gonna move con? You're not gonna it's already set. It's brand new. You're gonna you're telling me you're gonna have to fucking renovate the stadium the year after it opens so that way you can, you know. I would also like to know how many seats this impacts. Because if it's only a well, surely to God, it can't be, especially the ones where like the glass is blocking the view from the field. Like that can't be. The problem is with that, it's two or three seats, it's still too many at a fucking NFL stadium that costs two billion dollars.
SPEAKER_02If it's more than one seat, it's too many seats. Like, I could not imagine paying two billion dollars to have something done, and then you get in there and you see it's not right.
SPEAKER_01But we have that dope ass table.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01It's broken. You put that dope ass shit in there, and it's like, oh, we had to cut corners there and you're seating because we had to figure out how to put this fucking table.
SPEAKER_02You know what? You know what's crazy is it never seems like anything is just nothing's like great. Like you don't ever hear about something that works out anymore, do you? In today's society, it always just seems like three or four days later, something's gonna come out, and you're gonna be like, oh my god, my favorite person's a dickhead. This dude's a dirtbag, or man, this was a really cool project, and now it's fucking like these people have sat over here and cut corners of some sort.

SPEAKER_02And now, like there's gonna be some poor sab. Like, there's gonna be poor sabs every Sunday, or whenever there's games, eight Sundays a day a a year, yeah, that get stuck with these seats. So some things from training camp have come out that the 49ers really put put the put the pause to us today in practice, in our joint practice. A lot of fights, a lot of hard hits, a lot of dirty hits, allegedly. Allegedly. So, you know, maybe somebody who's who's really about that action being on the roster could probably help, you know, change the culture.
