We're Not Experts
We’re Not Experts is a podcast hosted by two guys who’ve somehow survived 15+ years of friendship and now think that qualifies them to talk into microphones. We’re average early 30’s dudes with very strong opinions and very average credentials—which is exactly the point.
We’re sports ethicists in the loosest sense of the term, breaking down the morals, madness, and mayhem of a wide variety of sports… but let’s be honest: football will absolutely hijack the conversation. We can talk about other sports. We just won’t stop talking about football.
Expect passionate debates, hot takes that cool off immediately, arguments that go nowhere, and the occasional moment of clarity that surprises everyone—including them. Stats may appear. Logic might leave the room. Confidence will always be high.
We’re not analysts. We’re not insiders. We’re definitely not experts.
We’re just two longtime friends talking sports the way most people do—too confidently, for too long, and with absolutely no credentials to back it up.
We’re Not Experts — and neither are you, so you’ll fit right in.

Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
All 32 NFL tams are back at training camp, and the chaos wasted no time. We break down Vita Vea wanting out of Tampa Bay, react to some of the wildest and funniest stories coming out of camp, and cover everything else that's already making headlines. Football is almost officially back, and so are the overreactions.
Welcome in, episode 32. We're not experts. Mr. Justin Butler. I'm Raleigh Jones. What is going on, my man? Brother. As of today, all 32 teams have reported to training camp.
SPEAKER_00Doesn't that make you just feel just like an abundance of happiness?
SPEAKER_01It makes me feel like football's almost back.
SPEAKER_00I had my like I've smiled for the first real time.
SPEAKER_01Do you let me ask you something? Before you tell me that you smiled for the first time in the last six months. Do you watch the Hall of Fame game?
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna I know. Probably not really. Like, I'm not gonna pay attention to it. I'll probably watch like the first drive of it just to just to have that moment like, damn, it's really here, but Yeah, and then you cut it off afterwards.
SPEAKER_01I do the same shit. That's so funny. That's so funny. What better way to football being back than Eric Bienami's son trying to kill his wife and his mother?
SPEAKER_00Like what it like first of all, like prayers to like their family. Because that's gotta be like tough. Like, how do you have to feel like as a dad, like you're s like you go out of town for camp, wife's at home, you find out your wife's been shot, and then you find out that your son is the one who shot her. Like, just think about like the whirlwind of emotions that he's like going through at this moment. Did you see the mugshot? Yeah, it looked like he didn't even give a fuck. No, it looked like he did not care. I mean, I couldn't imagine. That was crazy. Yeah, so like prayers up prayers up to like to his family for that, but like, dude, that's that's nuts. Like, obviously, like the story's gonna come out in time. Like, I just can't just can't fathom.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, I mean, yeah, you have to.
SPEAKER_00You look at him, it looks like he's kind of in rough shape.
SPEAKER_01Like, you you have kids, so I could I mean I don't I don't have children yet, so I I can't I don't know what that's like, but yeah, you do.
SPEAKER_00Because you know, like anybody else does that, it's probably hard to find forgiveness. Like in that situation, like your son's about to like go to jail, you try to kill your wife, his mom.
SPEAKER_01Right. That's the crazy part.
SPEAKER_00This is your mom. I can imagine, yeah. I wouldn't have I wouldn't have it in me to kill I mean, I don't have it in me to really like kill anybody outside of like a self-defense mode, but like I'd I'd kill anybody else before I'd kill my parents. Like, regardless of like how I felt about them.
SPEAKER_01Like, I mean, that's still your I yeah, both are crazy. Prayers up to the Bienemy family. That is a nut situation. I don't even know how you begin to deal with it.
SPEAKER_00And he's gotta deal with that and then turn around and eventually come back to work and act as and like forget that these things are like going on. Hear that, or he has to like step away.
SPEAKER_01Right. I uh on a lighter note though, Plex Coburis compared playing the Jets to prison. You think that's how Brees Hall feels?
SPEAKER_00Hey, look, you know, it's funny that this comes out. It's it's funny that this comes out because for the past year, as two people who are invested in key fantasy players for the Jets, 100%. We have referred to them as being in jail.
SPEAKER_01It's not that they're just fantasy players. Like I think that both Brees Hall and Garrett Wilson are both players that we've believed in since college.
SPEAKER_00Right, yeah, but at the same time, we have a little we care a little bit more because they're on our fantasy. 100%. We wouldn't care if we didn't have them on our fancy roster. We'd probably be laughing at a little bit more actually.
SPEAKER_01Plex Coburra said, I mean, they're both kind of similar because when I walked into prison on my first day, I was like, damn man, you're a fucking loser. And I had that same damn feeling every day I walked through the door with the Jets.
SPEAKER_00Hey, look. He's saying that, bro, bro, went to work feeling like us. Like, I don't I don't feel like necessarily a loser. But it's just like, damn, bro, like I hate my job.
SPEAKER_01I just can't help but to think that Brees Hall and both Garrett Wilson feel the same way.
SPEAKER_00Here's the yeah, I I mean how many people do you think over time for that have played for the Jets have felt the same way?
SPEAKER_01That's a fair point.
SPEAKER_00A lot. It's just crazy how many people like willing, like imagine willingly signing to the Jets.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it happens every year or two.
SPEAKER_00Or a team, like imagine signing to a team that you have no shot of like winning, like has no history of winning. Imagine signing a five-year deal with the Browns.
SPEAKER_01I would be excited personally for myself.
SPEAKER_00I mean, for the money. Yeah, you do it for the money, but like, man, if you want to win.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's no winning.
SPEAKER_00Winning doesn't take place in a in a world where you get judged off of winning, like going and playing meaningless sports. He's preparing for the world after football.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00He's like, hey, look, I'm here for a good time, uh, not a long time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I thought that was it's business. It's a business. I thought that was hilarious when I read that. They dumb for paying me for us to suck. Like I'm contributing to us being terrible. They couldn't be a check.
SPEAKER_01We uh we do actually have some real news. We'll gloss over the the bills, drop some new alternate uniforms thoughts, like your thoughts here. Rate them out of one to ten.
SPEAKER_00So I don't know. My initial reaction when you sent it to me and I first saw them, like I kind of liked them at first, just because you know, I'm a big fan of gray. I I didn't know that like the the back of the helmet had like nothing with the logo on it. So like my when I first saw it, I was like, oh, they had to do something sick with like a wraparound logo type of thing. And then I saw it and I was like, what even is that? And then I started looking at the jerseys and I'm like, this is terrible. And the my first reaction was is like the Titans were the only team that actually like crushed the new look. I mean I mean the Ravens jersey. They had that one alternate, that's cool, but that's not like their primary jersey. So I'm talking about like all the teams that came out with a whole new set. I think that we didn't talk about the Rams jerseys, did we?
SPEAKER_01No, we didn't. Yeah, we can talk about those too, I guess.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we can throw that in here so we look at it. Clearly, the Titans have to be number one in the new jersey.
SPEAKER_01I thought the Rams everybody loves the Rams jerseys. I think they're horrible. I look yellow, like I also like I kind of like the gray jerseys. I wish that they would have done the blue shoulder stripes, not the gray. The gray on gray. It just kind of almost too much gray.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I get what they were trying to do, though. It's based on this whole blue collar thing. It's a blue-collar city.
SPEAKER_00Nickel City is the name of it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and the collar's blue. That's trash. And the collar's blue. That's trash. What nickel city? Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's have you ever heard of it's because of all like the steel meals and shit. Have you ever heard of Buffalo referred to as Steel City? Absolutely not. I the I thought they were known for chicken wings.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I don't even know. I mean, it's basically Canada. Like if Buffalo ever messed up good enough, like we could annex it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01You know, like it's right there on the border, so it's it's it's annexable. Their new stadium's dope. Their new stadium is nice. It's outdoors. Not a big fan of it.
SPEAKER_00That table's lit. Yeah. Somebody said, what are they gonna do if somebody tries to like light a fire like they do when they try to jump through the chairs at the tailgates? They light it on fire.
SPEAKER_01They're not that crazy. They're not gonna ruin a perfectly new stadium. Yeah, obviously not, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_00You never know. Yeah. It's the Bills. Bill's mafia.
SPEAKER_01But to the Rams jerseys, I think they're trash. The white ones are super trash.
SPEAKER_00It's like they're kind of paying homage to like the OG Los Angeles.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was like 58 or something like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, which I get. I just feel like if that's the case, you should have just gone away with it.
SPEAKER_01Guess what?
SPEAKER_00We're not in there.
SPEAKER_01Their jerseys were trash too.
SPEAKER_00I kind of like the old school. Their jerseys were horrible. I don't like pictures. I wish they would have just I just wish they would have gone to like the actual just old school, the first, like the the royal blue with the yellow, and like an actual more of a Rams logo versus like the LA that looks like the fucking stadium.
SPEAKER_01I told you what I wanted. I want I want the St. Louis colors back. I want the gold. I didn't fuck with the gold.
SPEAKER_00Like, I don't like that the primary jersey's fucking yellow. Like, I don't like that.
SPEAKER_01It's kind of like I have a favorite team that's favored their their main jerseys yellow. So I get it.
SPEAKER_00Shit's trash, bro.
SPEAKER_01I'm not a big fan. I own multiple jerseys of them too. Who? The Predators.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. Yeah, but there's a but it's that it's just I don't know.
SPEAKER_01It's like gold. Right, yeah. But it's yellow. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I just think I don't know. I don't like it. I don't like that color yellow, though. But I'm also not a big yellow guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. They're trash.
SPEAKER_00If I was a Rams fan, guess what? Yes, I would still buy one. Would I love it? No. It's just I just pray. I just pray Nike's not cooking up some bullshit for the Titans. Nah, bro. So like I feel like I've seen like a pretty accurate mock-up of it. I feel like it's essentially just going to be just navy. Like it's gonna be like Navy with the Oilers, blue, like the Yeah, we'll see.
SPEAKER_01I've seen those same ones too.
SPEAKER_00But but well, Nike released like an Air Max pack for all of the teams that are like rivalries, and the Titans, it's like just mostly like Navy with like some little like baby blue like accents to it.
SPEAKER_01So I have a feeling I'm gonna be upset.
SPEAKER_00I feel like I'm gonna like it.
SPEAKER_01Maybe. I hope so. We we we have some real news from training camp. Man, it is Vitavea has requested a trade.
SPEAKER_00He's I wanna get paid.
SPEAKER_01He he's not I mean he's gonna get paid. It's not gonna be by the Bucks. Somebody's gonna pay him. I think I think that the Bucks are gonna end up paying him. I don't know. Because you do you keep Baker? Because if you keep pay if you keep Baker, you gotta pay him too.
SPEAKER_00That's fine. Yeah, for sure. But I mean, I mean Baker's a quarterback, so the problem is I feel like for me is is like the you're gonna have to pay Baker. Yeah, he already got a big thing. You're not gonna get another $30 million. Yeah, you're not gonna get another $30 million deal. So like you know how where I stand. If I was the Bucks GM, Baker Mayfield, I'm sorry. I like you as a guy. Yeah, we're gonna ship you off to somebody that's cool with paying you $55 million for the you know 15th to 16th best quarterback. He fell off last year. He was also injured. Yeah, that is true. Significantly injured, too. But before because before last year, I feel like I personally, if you would have said, hey, do you want to would you pay Baker Mayfield? I still wouldn't want to pay him $60 million. Here's the problem with this. But I would have felt better going into last year than this year.
SPEAKER_01Like he like he was like injured from like week two on. He was playing at an MVP level earlier in the season. From to like week eight. Yeah. I mean, they're literally chanting MVP as he was walking off the field. I but yeah, like the new season of quarterback, he was like playing with like a PCL sprain.
SPEAKER_00One thing I will say I respect it's almost too much dog. Yeah, that's what I was just about to say. I I appreciate the dog though. Yeah, you're you're hurting yourself because now we look at you and you're like, you're like, oh, I was hurt. Yeah, but you played. So we don't want to hear that you played hurt, and that's why you sucked because you should have just not played and got healthy. Yeah, you know, and then you could have been like, oh, I got hurt, so that's why our season went sad.
SPEAKER_01The real problem is he knows if he sits out like their backups Teddy Bridgewater. They're cooked.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, that's fine.
SPEAKER_01Season's cooked. Like if you have a Joe Flacco, like you'd probably feel better.
SPEAKER_00The season was cooked with Baker Mayfield hurt. Like that's well, they were in the game. But but not only that, like they also started playing bad, like across the board.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, agreed. Bucky got hurt. Yeah. They were they were banged up. Defense was trash. Defense was trash. So now their best defensive player wants out.
SPEAKER_00That's a that's a wall. He's a half- I think you should pay Brit Vita Vea just because of like what he did.
SPEAKER_01His uh his teams, his teams that he wants to be traded to are the California teams and the Raiders. Hope he doesn't go to the Raiders. Hope he doesn't go to the Raiders. If he goes to the Raiders, that defensive line would be crazy.
SPEAKER_00It would be, but like Crosby and Vita Vea is the card.
SPEAKER_01I want to see crazy calls.
SPEAKER_00I want to see people that are like that caliber of player move to a team and be competitive. Like I don't want to see Vita Vea go and play for a team that doesn't. Well, yeah, I mean, you don't necessarily want to see that either. Because then it's like now we're just putting too much on there.
SPEAKER_01We're just putting too much on Aaron Donald, Miles Garrett, Vita Vea.
SPEAKER_00I don't think Aaron Donald's coming back early in the season. I don't know. Like I can see that being more of like a like a later, like you don't want to bring him in and be like, okay, you're two years removed from football, you're 36 years old. We expect you to step up and be Aaron Donald that you were from day one all the way through day seven, week seven.
SPEAKER_01True. Like, but he's he's also like not gotten out of shape. Yeah. So he would just need to get back into like football shape. Like he would need to like take some hits. His workouts insane. He's a dog. He's crazy. Yeah, he's insane.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He's a house. 36-year-old Aaron Donald.
SPEAKER_00And look, and what's crazy is like at his size, too, like it wasn't like he was like massive.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So like it almost feels like the way that he was playing, you feel like like this dude could have been sick until he was 40, like he was brawn or something.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. If he comes back and they were to get beat of A2, you can you can cancel it.
SPEAKER_00Just throw the season away.
SPEAKER_01I'm here to I'm here. I'm watching football this season for fantasy.
SPEAKER_00If they did that and didn't win a Super Bowl, oh man.
SPEAKER_01It would be the equivalent of the Miami Braun, Chris Bosch, and D-Wade. Losing to the Mavs. Yeah, yeah, actually. I didn't even think about it that way. I'm just saying, like, as a super team.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like a super team in the NFL. Like I don't feel like they happen very often. So it's like, you know, with Aaron Donald, Vita Vaya and Miles Garrett, that's a trio on defense. It's a big three on just the defensive line.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then you've got McDuffie.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. You don't even you don't even think about McDuffie, Trip McDuffie.
SPEAKER_00They've got a unit. It's crazy. It feels like it feels like they are like if they don't win the Super Bowl, where do you think you blow it up?
SPEAKER_01What do you think he got? Out of Sam Fran, LA LA Raiders. I'd like to see him in Sam Fran. Yeah, it'd be a good fit.
SPEAKER_00San Fran's one of those teams where it's it's hard for me to not want to see them.
SPEAKER_01They would also have an insane D-line if Posa could stay healthy.
SPEAKER_00Right. And yeah, just having a wall. I mean, any good team. I can't. I can't breathe. Sorry. Yeah, just having a guy like that on your D-line on any type of team is gonna is gonna help out tremendously. I mean, he's a gap filler, so he can also create pressure.
SPEAKER_01He's he's a gap filler. I think that's like the definition of him.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I just feel like he could it's it's crazy to see somebody that that size play the way that like at the level that he does. Do you uh expect it almost?
SPEAKER_01Do you uh that's I don't have anything else on Vitavea. I hope he goes to the Raiders. I hope the Raiders are nice. I want to see Kirk Cousins succeed.
SPEAKER_00Look, if the Raiders are nice, that means that Ashton Genty probably had a good season. So I'm gonna go to the house.
SPEAKER_01I think Ash and Genty has a good season, whether he's nice or not. I think they have two weapons.
SPEAKER_00There's two people to get the ball to. Ashton Genty and Brock Bowers. That's it. We were having an argument in our fantasy chat the other day about who somebody picked him up. Somebody picked up who is their receiver that they picked up? Jalen Naylor and said he's a wide receiver one.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I guess maybe technically.
SPEAKER_00I don't even know if he actually is the wide receiver one. Well, I made a comment that their wide receiver one's name was Brock Bowers.
SPEAKER_01That's a hundred percent true.
SPEAKER_00So, but there's levels to wide receiver one as far as, you know, I'm just playing the role of it and like having a real wide receiver one.
SPEAKER_01It's not like he'll get wide receiver one targets. Right. Like Jalen Naylor's not getting 150 targets.
SPEAKER_00No, he's gonna get like 80, and it's gonna lead the team, and you're gonna be like, oh, he was a wide receiver.
SPEAKER_01No, he'll lead the wide receiver, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he'll yeah, he'll lead the wide receivers. Yeah, he'll be like 60 behind Bowers if he's gonna be.
SPEAKER_01Brock Bowers should 100% see 140, 150 targets. Yeah, but like Ashton Genty's probably gonna see 80, 90 targets out of the back. He should. Maybe more. Like there's a chance to be able to do that.
SPEAKER_00Kirk Cousins doesn't really like love the the check down, though. Nah, what do you mean? I don't know. Bijan didn't really like thrive with Kirk Cousins throwing him the ball.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but he was also, he for whatever reason, him and Kyle Pitts. He likes pushing that ball down field. Him and Kyle Pitts had the I mean Kyle Pitts had the greatest game in fantasy football for a tight end ever. Literally ever.
SPEAKER_00Do you think he do you think he like replicates that?
SPEAKER_01Who? Kyle Pitts? Yeah. No.
SPEAKER_00You think Kyle Pitts has a down year? I think or you think he just regresses back to the median, I guess, instead of saying a down year?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think I don't think Kyle Pitts is great. Like I think he's like athletic. I think he's like a super freak athlete. I just don't know if Man, he just got the short end of the stick, though. He hasn't had great QB play. Tua should be an upgrade. Tua should be an upgrade for the biggest.
SPEAKER_00Well, Tua also likes throwing the ball to tight ends, too.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, he is also the quarterback that's targeted the running back the most ever.
SPEAKER_00Hey, shout out Bichon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Bijan should be a dog. He'll be he'll be the second best running back this year.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_01He'll be the second best.
SPEAKER_00I mean, who's the first?
SPEAKER_01Jameer Gibbs is rhyme to I'm wasn't Bijan while I was running back one last year. Yeah, last year. I don't I don't think there was a David Montgomery sharing the work.
SPEAKER_00Now he's got Pacheco.
SPEAKER_01I nobody cares. Yeah, he's literally dead. He died.
SPEAKER_00Wait, when he broke his ankle, he was dead. He died.
SPEAKER_01He was gone.
SPEAKER_00I was so grateful to have been able to trade him.
SPEAKER_01It was it was over. Yeah, I think Jameer Gibbs is probably your RB.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, man. It's hard to just go. That's who I would take. If he's healthy, it's hard to say that there's you know, you always gotta throw your hat in for McCaffrey. If he's healthy, you always gotta say he is a horse. Yeah. Is McCaffrey healthy? Then my favorite would be him. But I think Bijan has a big ear too.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know, it's it's it's tough because you know they got the they got the wavelengths out there in San Francisco. Shining.
SPEAKER_00Is he gonna he's not gonna be able to go back to back?
SPEAKER_01If I'm not mistaken, I believe I don't know if this is true or not. I should probably look this up before I say it. I'm not, but I'm just gonna say it. But I'm pretty sure I read that they're building a new practice facility.
SPEAKER_00I think I saw that too. I thought that.
SPEAKER_01I mean, if you did an investigation and the investigation showed that nothing was going on, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Why would you build another? They're gonna be like, just in case they're wrong. We're we're not experts, but just in case.
SPEAKER_01I don't see the need to be building a brand new practice facility. I don't know how cheap that is.
SPEAKER_00They gotta get a tax right off somewhere.
SPEAKER_01Buddy, I just seems uh it seems odd to me. I really hope that's true. I hope that's true. Somebody should look that up and let me know.
SPEAKER_00You know, another thing cool about starting a training camp is obviously we're looking forward to football being back, but we get those last minute members of the BCA.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. Yeah, we did. We got two new members today. And they both collected a large sum of money. Jalen Carter got in a bag. What was the contract?
SPEAKER_00I think it was four years. 162 million or 152 million, one of them I'll be able to.
SPEAKER_01How much was guaranteed? How much is he putting in the bank account?
SPEAKER_00Quite a bit. A lot more than I'll ever see. Maybe. I can tell you that. Maybe. Four year, 152 million dollar extension. Buddy. What a check.
SPEAKER_01I think it was like 60 mil or something like that.
SPEAKER_00He's making 38 million dollars a year, surpassing Jeffrey Simmons, who just got a bag at 35.2. Yeah. I don't I mean, obviously, there's gonna be like the the longevity out. Aspect of it in the long-term look for Jalen Carter fans, I don't think he's better than Big Jeff.
SPEAKER_01Well, I tell you what he can afford. A personal driver.
SPEAKER_00He's gonna need one. A personal driver. I hope he cashes in on that. We're just look, just keep him out of the state of Georgia. Because it seems like that's where they get caught.
SPEAKER_01What if Athens, Georgia is cursed? What if it's a cursed city?
SPEAKER_00Ah man. They want their athletes to be fast.
SPEAKER_01It's cursed. Speaking of uh football players getting arrested, shout out to Tony Romo, D UI. It was suspicion of DUI, which tells me he probably didn't take the sobriety test, but buddy, from the mug shot, he was squash.
SPEAKER_00They didn't need it. I can tell you you were fucked up. Shout out Tony Romo for saving us a couple dineros. He saved the taxpayers a couple dollars with that one. Tony Romo. I just look if you're rich. Look, okay. Not even if you're rich. Okay. Do not publicly, do not drink and drive. Like, do not go out in public, get sloshed, and then drive. Especially if you're rich.
SPEAKER_01It's so preventable.
SPEAKER_00Even if you're not rich. Uber. Uber's very cheap. Make sure you got a no friend is gonna let their friend drive drunk. No real friend for sure. Yeah. My come calls me and he's drunk, and you say, I don't care. You know, you need a ride home, I got you.
SPEAKER_01I you know, I actually like Tony Romo.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He's a great analyst. But most that I think we're probably in the, I don't know, we're probably not in the minority of that. There's probably a lot of people that like Tony Romo, but I know a lot of people that don't like Tony Romo.
SPEAKER_00He's always calling plays, man. How could you not enjoy that? Like he literally is like taking you in the mind of like a football player. Like you wish you could see like how I look at it, and it's like how how like when he's calling that, and I'm like, imagine being able to what is he seeing exactly?
SPEAKER_01I feel like it's like a I feel like it's like a a lesson. Like I feel like he's like teaching.
SPEAKER_00Like I'm learning, yeah. Yeah, right. Like imagine being able to do like film study with Tony Romo.
SPEAKER_01I uh yeah, so shout out to Thomas while he's drunk. Shout out to Tony Romo for drinking and driving.
SPEAKER_00Hey, look, I don't like you making that decision. It's a bad idea. We would love to have you on the pod to break down some film. Yeah, and ask you why you were drinking and driving. I do want to ask you that too. So, Tony Romo, look, help us out, help us help you. Man, we can we can talk to you about why that's not a good decision, and you can teach us some football.
SPEAKER_01You can pay me to teach you or to tell you not to drink football. Yeah, we do a look. I could be an advisor. Rasheed Rice, call me. Jordan Addison, call me.
SPEAKER_00I feel like that should be easy. Call me. Hey man, should I do this? No. No. Do you need me to get you somewhere? Right. I can look. How fast you need to be there? Okay, look, you're Rasheed Rice. You're an NFL player. Okay, I'm sure you can afford to be a little late.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00You don't have to be in a rush.
SPEAKER_01Henry Ruggs, no need to drive drunk. Oh man. Well, you can call him. Mark Sanchez. You can get Henry Ruggs on JPEG.
SPEAKER_00No need to fucking try to kill somebody. The JPEG's nuts. Oh man. Hey, look, if we can get a jail call interview with Henry Ruggs, I'm not doing it.
SPEAKER_01I'd be like, hey, bro. It would be a bad look. I'd be like, hey. We're too new in the game to be doing wild act. No, maybe, maybe, maybe we then maybe that's how we get our. Maybe that's how we get our biggest thing.
SPEAKER_00These are two respectable guys, man. Look at how they're talking to them, man. They're just telling them, like, just don't make that decision again.
SPEAKER_01Henry, I watched this video of Nick Saban carrying the water for you, brother. And I've had your back ever since. I changed my fantasy name to you. Henry Ruggs Racing. Free Henry Ruggs. That's what I said. He probably shouldn't be free. Maybe he learned his lesson. I don't know. We do hope for reforms. We don't want institutionalized people coming out. Like I want reform.
SPEAKER_00That's right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like I don't want him to be jacked up for the rest of his life.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, facts. Facts.
SPEAKER_01Like I want him to be able to get out and have a decent life.
SPEAKER_00Back to the BCA.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, whoever's Denzel Ward, correct?
SPEAKER_00Yes, Nesson's the interesting one for me. So for the second time of his career, he's been paid as yeah. I know. No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_01I mean, why do you think their defense was so elite?
SPEAKER_00You think it was just Miles Garrett? I mean, no, I'm not saying that. I've part of it was, I mean, their defensive coordinator that's been a bit. They had the warden out there. They did have the warden. That's so hard. They had the warden out there. He said so fire. But like, I mean, look, I just look, we've said I've said it before. I'm a fan of, you know, I'm a guy that believes in, look, I can't pay you the most if you're not the best. And it it's not one of the best. I can't pay you the most because you're one of the best. I gotta pay you the most because you're the best. Normally, I would agree. And I'd sit that down at the negotiating table, and I'm saying, look, I'm not saying that I'm not gonna pay you well. I'm saying I'm not gonna pay you more. I'd be like, look, you're valuable, you're great. You're not Pat Sartan. We're gonna pay you like yours, Pat Sartan. Like, we'll give you his contract.
SPEAKER_01There was probably a year. We'd have to go back and like look at the numbers, but like there was probably a year where he was numbers were comparable.
SPEAKER_00Talking about year in and year out. I uh here's the problem.
SPEAKER_01This is the only reason why I'm gonna give Denzel Ward the exception.
SPEAKER_00He is sick as fuck.
SPEAKER_01I'm not saying that he's not sick as he is he is sick, he's probably like cornerback five. That's not what I'm gonna say, though. Is there's not a more Cleveland Brown player on that roster than Denzel Ward. Yeah, that dude has been a champion. He's literally been a champion for the Browns since the moment he got there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And it's been nothing but bad. They had what one good year?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's amazing to think that like is And this dude is like he loves the Browns.
SPEAKER_01He shouldn't have gotten rid of Baker Mayfield.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they he was a part of that. He was a part of the body. By playing injured. Yeah, 100%. And he and one Odell. And playing with Odell. They went crazy though. They did. In Spurts moments.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00And then you had his dad putting the highlights on the field showing Baker Mayfield just missing Odell like 10 times a game.
SPEAKER_01They also had Jar of Slandry, too. A lot of mouths to feed. It was the original Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chest.
SPEAKER_00They were sick. Yeah. But yeah, no, I mean, look, I think Denzel Warren's great.
SPEAKER_01You just, I think you it's only a it's a two-year deal. I don't you haven't we haven't looked at the details, but I'm sure there's probably 52 million of it's guaranteed. Yeah, but I'm sure like there's probably that means there's probably a get out after this year. It was like, hey, like, look, man, you've been loyal to Cleveland. We're gonna give you a bag for that.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you might as well pay him next year, too.
SPEAKER_01Like Yeah, but he what is he? He's probably 30 now. I think he's probably 30. Like he's but he's probably at the end, he's closer to the end than he is at the beginning.
SPEAKER_00Facts. Corners kind of age like running backs. They do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, 100%.
SPEAKER_00I don't think it talked about enough.
SPEAKER_01Obviously, it's probably the second most difficult position in football.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't know. Without probably hard as fuck. Huh? Oh, they're all hard as fuck.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. They're all hard, but I'm saying like corner, like you're guarding the best people on the field. Yeah. You're guarding the best athletes. Yeah. All your wired. And it's set up for you to fail. Yeah, right. Yeah, you can't fucking do any of the shit you used to be able to do. And like grabbing no more.
SPEAKER_00Not only that, you gotta be like more reactionary.
SPEAKER_01And it's what it kind of makes what you know, Pat Sertan, what he's doing, like some of these elite corners in the league, like Derek Stingley. Like, yeah, like it's almost more impressive. Just because like it can't be as physical.
SPEAKER_00I just think the thing when I look at these corners is they are nice, but like, man, how do you like compare like Pat Sertan to uh to like Darrell Revis?
SPEAKER_01He was one of the sickest.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Dude, that was a lot of things. Yeah, there is a video of Chad Johnson talking about Darrell Reevas and it like the people he locked up in that season.
SPEAKER_00Insane, yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's like the 07 season. That's what I'm saying. That's that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00Like, how do you compare these receivers to that?
SPEAKER_01How do you compare these receivers to that? Yeah, that's tough. He's the sickest. He might, he's you know, he's one of the goats.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I think that he also didn't have it on the other side period of time. You know who was on the other side? Was it Antonio Cromartie? Sick. That boy had 14 kids. Yeah, he had to be sick. He had to keep getting paid.
SPEAKER_01Hey, he was sick when he was on the Chargers back then.
SPEAKER_00He was sick as fucked. Yeah. But but yeah, no, I mean, like, I don't I don't know like how you compare that, like, the level of it.
SPEAKER_01But I think there was also it was a more physical game.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Back then. You could grab a little bit more. But if a if a corner is touching a receiver after five yards, it's a penalty.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't like that.
SPEAKER_01Every time.
SPEAKER_00They've geared it too much to the offense.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, I'm not I'm not necessarily opposed to more offense, but I mean I could see the argument. I get the argument.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but we also, I don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Like I I get the argument. It's more entertaining.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't know, bro. Like, I enjoy like defensive battles. I don't. Why? Because it's bad for fantasy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It's I mean, look, I don't base everything off of fantasy. It's just a big portion of it. But I mean, yeah, like I've I've put money on the line. I'm not just I'm also an over better. Like, I like betting the over, bro.
SPEAKER_00Like that's fair. You want to see people put up points.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm here for the excitement. I'm not here for the city.
SPEAKER_00That's why you're a big fan of Big Dome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe that's maybe that's a hot take. Maybe there's more people like you that like to see the defensive battle.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I'm not opposed to either one of them. I just feel like they're just great in their own ways. But like, there's been many a time. Like a shootout is great too, but what's it, what makes it so much better than like just two defensive, just you know, a 6'3? Just a dog fight. Yeah, that sounds horrible. Why? That don't sound horrible to you. I don't know. It doesn't to me.
SPEAKER_01Just a bunch of just a bunch of.
SPEAKER_00Just different in its own way.
SPEAKER_01Just a bunch of bad drawn-up plays. Just a bunch of inside zones. Just a I mean, let's hand the ball off again.
SPEAKER_00I mean, what if it's a 6'3 game? Now there's levels to it, okay? Like a 6'3 game and like when it's you know, piss pouring raining or 40 mile an hour winds or some shit like that. Then yeah, that's those are terrible.
SPEAKER_01Those are all your 6'3 games these days.
SPEAKER_00Not really, but yeah, I mean, yeah, a lot of times it is. But I'm saying when you have those moments, when you have those moments in like good condition and stuff like that, it's just I feel like it's just great in a different light. High level defense and high-level offense is the same thing to me.
SPEAKER_01It really is a chess match.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Which would be the interesting part. Like I would watch the game. I'm just saying, like, I wouldn't be aesthetically pleased.
SPEAKER_00Like, I think shutting down I think shutting down an offense is more satisfying in these days. Like being able to just like lock down an offense is more satisfying than a team that's just gonna come out here and well, it's a good feeling when it's your team.
SPEAKER_01Well, defense wins championships too. Allegedly. What do you mean? I mean, I guess I guess the Seattle did shut down there. Or I guess Drake May shut the Patriots down.
SPEAKER_00You just put that on Drake May.
SPEAKER_01Will Campbell. He tried to shut them down. He tried to shut them down the first couple games of the playoffs, but their defense wouldn't allow them.
SPEAKER_00They just played too many cupcakes.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if they played cupcakes.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they played the Texans, the Chargers. We didn't really love either of those teams. They played the Texans, they played the Stitty.
SPEAKER_01They played the Steady. They did play the Steady. Yeah, a bunch of Broncos were beating the table saying, we would have won that game if it wasn't for the City. My brother.
SPEAKER_00Nah, we would have won that game if it wasn't raining. Even if we had the Steady or snowing. If it didn't turn into a snowstorm, the City was gonna win us that game. He wasn't.
SPEAKER_01He wasn't. The Steady. He wasn't. He was never gonna win. You were a believer in the Steady. I did, I fell into the hype.
SPEAKER_00You said they said the Steady, I said the who, and you were in. I remember.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, the City. And you look, fool me once. Shame on me. Can't fool you. You can't get fooled again. You can't get fooled again. The Steady won't fool me again. The Steady won't do it.
SPEAKER_00You might not have a chance because Bo Nicks is back. Buddy. Daniel Jones is back.
SPEAKER_01The ankle looks fragile.
SPEAKER_00Pat Mahomes is also back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, look, they put Tucker Kraft on PUP, but they said that there's a good chance he's going to be ready for week one. Micah Parsons on the pup? He will not be ready for week one. They're saying that he's going to miss like the first month of the season.
SPEAKER_00Which is weird because in a year of where everybody's recovering in record time, you got Malik neighbors and I mean look, there's also different severities. Yeah, that is true.
SPEAKER_01Like if you tear multiple ligaments. That's fair. Like, I don't know the extent of his. It was probably pretty gruesome though. Yeah. It's he he plays with like an aggression. Yes.
SPEAKER_00It's going to be interesting to see how he comes back.
SPEAKER_01I uh actually doesn't know.
SPEAKER_00There's a guy that you told me was gonna be.
SPEAKER_01This is funny.
SPEAKER_00There's a guy that you told me was gonna be uh, what'd you say a 1300 yard 80, 90 catch? He's gonna have to do a lot of work. Because Alec Pierce is starting his season on the pup.
SPEAKER_01They haven't ruled out a week one. It's training camp's not looking great.
SPEAKER_00You don't love that even if you're coming back. You get injured before you come back into training camp. Maybe you come back early to try to get there at the beginning of the season, you get hurt, all of a sudden, you know, you now you're starting your injured your season injured again, and you're battling that off season.
SPEAKER_02Man.
SPEAKER_00Setting up for more like an 800 year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'll have to eat that. I'll have to eat that if that happens. That's okay. That's okay. I'm a man. I'll admit when I was wrong, but I'm not wrong yet. You're just early. Brother, I'm not wrong yet. You're just early. I promise. I uh there is some on Twitter the other day, Micah Parsons tweeted that he likes toes. Is there any thoughts on that? He's gross. That's a dirty man. Disgusting shouldn't share that information.
SPEAKER_00I'm not a yeah, I'm not a f not a fan of feet.
SPEAKER_01Shouldn't. It should be a personal thing. Sweaty foot guy. Keep that to yourself. You sweaty foot man. Oh, your Marv sprained his ankle. Any concerns?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01They also said that wide receiver one is up in the air, that it would be a battle for the position.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you know.
SPEAKER_01I don't really think that that's Michael Wilson Jerry Rice doesn't scare you. I mean, he was only putting up Jerry Rice numbers when Marv was there. When Jacoby Brissett. He's gonna be the guy. He got his money. Jacoby got his number.
SPEAKER_00What do you get a whopping what do you get? 15 mil or something like that? 15.5.
SPEAKER_01Woo!
SPEAKER_00I mean, I guess that is a severe upgrade for somebody. He's making what, like, six million dollars or something like that before. Hey, that's anyways, cool. I like the fact that the Carter's like, look, we'll pay you a little bit more.
SPEAKER_01They're gonna be the worst. They might be the second worst.
SPEAKER_00What's $15 million in a lost season, anyways? Like, he's gonna be up out of there. It's gonna have to be. It's gonna have to be. I'm so upset that uh that uh that Marv is like battling yet another injury. That's not like he's looking more like he's cooked. As a Marv fantasy owner, I hate it. I am a believer in Marv, so I also hate it. Yeah, but you know, the good thing is is we got ownership in another Ohio State wide receiver. Who's that? Carnell Tate. I got Carnell Tate on my fantasy team to replace Marv. I'll trade him for a bag of chips now.
SPEAKER_01Things are looking up for Carnell Tate, man. I finished quarterback season five. I still haven't even started it. And I came away, I came away with the thought that Cam Ward is the guy. Like you come away, you you watch it, and you come away thinking, like, I don't know if there's a dude that wants to win more than this guy.
SPEAKER_00It makes me feel validated.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Because I said this when we drafted him.
SPEAKER_01It feels good.
SPEAKER_00It feels like you got a guy.
SPEAKER_01It feels good. I was very juiced up.
SPEAKER_00The Tennessee Titans are gonna be, and don't take this the wrong, some people are gonna hear this and take it the wrong way. The Tennessee Titans are gonna be better than what people think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. What's their uh their line? What's their line in Vegas? I think it's like five and a half. Ooh.
SPEAKER_00Could they win six? I mean, I th I've got them at like seven or eight. I think they can win a seven, seven. Like if you win six, though, I think that's a successful season. From a standpoint of you, are just the worst team, one of the worst teams in the league. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you go from three to six, you double your win total total. That that on paper it sounds awful, but doubling your win total in a season long.
SPEAKER_01Because yeah, like we what won three games last year. Yeah. But I mean there was promising. Like, there was like that Seattle game was promising. Like, there was a bunch of moments where you watched Cam Ward and you were like, yeah, I think we might have the guy.
SPEAKER_00I would have felt better had Brian Callahan just not been the coach. Like, you feel better, much better about the Titans per post Brian Callahan. Like you almost have to forget that that part of the season was.
SPEAKER_01Mike McCoy got hired again by the Titans. Shout out. Shout out to him. Yeah, he's not bald though. Doesn't fit the mold. This is this is how we're gonna end it. I gotta get your take on this.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_01Unless you got something else. You got anything else?
SPEAKER_00Nope.
SPEAKER_01Mike Vrabel came up to the podium the other day. He did two things. There's two things that Mike Vrabel does when he comes to the podium. The first thing he did look, the the New England Patriots are on a full Mike Vrabel image rebuild right now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's failing to me.
SPEAKER_01My boy brought a puppy up to the podium. Did you see it? Yeah. You saw the video of him bringing the puppy up to the book.
SPEAKER_00Wasn't that for like a for like a ch was it for like a charity event or like a like a thing with like the animal shelter or something like that? Yeah, probably. Yeah, that's I mean that when you're doing it for that, it's just yeah, image rebuilding.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but look. You know what else, Mike Vrabel is a good one? That's an image that's hard to rebuild from, okay? You know what? It's a class act. Oh, how's that? Mike Vrabel's a class act, they say. Do you know that Mike Vrabel always allows a female reporter Karen? I'm gonna mess up your last name and I apologize. Gurigan to ask the first question at press conferences. Vrabel understands how hard it can be for women in sports and has made it a tradition to support and mentor them. Now, with that being said, I would like to get the definition of mentor. Because was he mentoring Diana Roussini? I feel like Diana Roussini probably got some of his treatment.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so yeah. It definitely seems that way, but Am I am I reading too much into it? Yeah, because there's a difference between letting someone ask a question first at a press conference and giving away stories to a reporter. Right. How do we know that he's not doing that to her? Is she reporting any stories? I haven't, you know, I didn't even know.
SPEAKER_01I don't even know what she looks like.
SPEAKER_00I don't know who she is. Don't follow New England reporters.
SPEAKER_01Let me see. I can probably pull her up real quick. And if, you know, like if she's a if she's if she's a baddie, you gotta you almost have to assume it. If she's a good looking woman, I'm look, I have no choice but to think that, you know, like doing it again. He's a dirtbag. Makes sense. You know, like he's done dirtbag things. I don't know why he wouldn't stop his dirtbaggery just because he got caught. That's never stopped him before.
SPEAKER_00Look, but the the yeah, yeah, but you know, maybe, maybe look.
SPEAKER_01Look, there's can confirm I've now seen a picture of Karen. Okay. She fits the name. I don't think we have anything to worry about here. I think Mike Vrabel's just being a class.
SPEAKER_00He's just being a class act. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He's just look, he wants to be look, it's part of the image. That's true. Maybe this is just part of the imagery building. I read two. I support women. I love women. Yeah, he does. He does. He definitely does. He does. Shout out Mike Vrabel.
SPEAKER_00Oh, man. Look, football is essentially back. Yeah. Like we're starting to smile more, starting to be happy again. Like the vibes are starting to get high. Like, I got something to look forward to. It's that time of the year where everybody loves the fact that football is back.
SPEAKER_01And we're just at the beginning today, like I said, our first thing of the podcast. Today was the first day all 32 teams had reported. The news is about to start cranking out. It's going to be a fun ride. This is going to be a fun ride. It's going to be a good season. We are just praying. Unless the Rams get Vitavea.
SPEAKER_00Then we're done with it. We're going to mail it in.
SPEAKER_01We're going to turn into a fantasy podcast.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and basketball. We can talk about LeBron and the Sixers. I'm talking about the man on the Sixers.
SPEAKER_01Man, the man on the Sixers. The man on the Sixers. Well, that's all I got, brother. I ain't got nothing else. Shout out to y'all for 32 episodes of support. Man. Yeah, yeah. Follow us on all our social media.
SPEAKER_00We're not experts.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're not experts everywhere. So it should be easy to find.
SPEAKER_00Man, like, subscribe, tell a friend. You know that you know the vibes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, 100%. Catch us on the next one.
SPEAKER_00Peace.
