Episode 27. Back in the cave.
SPEAKER_01Man, for the 27th time, man. WNE. Keep on, keep the the show must go on. We're gonna keep rolling.
SPEAKER_00We'll uh hop straight into it. Jeffrey Simmons collects a bag. Man, a well-deserved bag. 105 million dollar contract, 100 million guaranteed. It's a large bag of money. Man. What we would call an ethical bag.
SPEAKER_01He's definitely earned it both on and off the field. Yeah, he's a good human. Man, great human.
SPEAKER_00On top of being a good football player. Pretty sure he's uh Walter Mate Walter Payton man of the year. He's paid like the best defensive tackle in the league.
SPEAKER_01He also plays like the best defensive tackle in the league.
SPEAKER_00Yep. I think no arguments here with that.
SPEAKER_01He has been an absolute dog in Tennessee, like s for since really since he came back. Like since since he like came back from that injury, he's been I mean, uh easily the best player for the Titans. I mean, that's considering his tenure. Outside of Henry, maybe. Yeah, it's not close. But I mean, I I love Big Jeff. I am the owner of a Big Jeff jersey. Glad I get to keep it a little bit longer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I believe.
SPEAKER_01Hopefully, hopefully, if you know, my expectation is is like if he plays with his age like the remainder of his contract, may retire Titan.
SPEAKER_00He will probably retire a Titan. And I like that. Yeah, I'm in. I'm in. Good move by the Titans. You you had to sol you had to solidify him in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I mean, one, it it's good because the last time you don't have to go through the drama of like the last time when he was trying to get the bag, you know, the deleting everything about the team. You know, think about how many times they've talked about trading him over the course of these last few years, considering how bad he is, and all he's done is just like reiterated, like, no, I don't I want to be a part of this rebuild.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he did come out and say he did come out and say that the Titans have done nothing but right by him.
SPEAKER_01They I mean they have. Yeah, I agree. I mean, other than you know, give him actual help on the defensive side of the football, but they at least tried. They did it this year. They did the well, they tried this year. They we still have to see how it performs because we had pretty good expectations a few years ago when Rand what did what we thought was absolutely cooking when he took over the reins.
SPEAKER_00That's true.
SPEAKER_01So, I mean, we thought he cooked, and all of those turned out to actually be bad. It happens, yeah.
SPEAKER_00We uh he no longer has a job. That's that's good for Jeffrey Simmons. We do have a little bit of other news, not much. We don't got a ton to talk about today.
SPEAKER_01Nah, and one last thing about the J the Jeffrey Simmons thing that I will say because it's gonna segue perfectly into the next thing we talk about. He is the example of like when we were having the conversation the other day about like I guess it's been a few episodes now, about like the young kids that get involved in like the DV situation or like make bad decisions like early in their career and the difference between like doing it in Jeffrey Simmons' case and like for Josh Jacobs and stuff like that, for example. He is the testament that you can be a dirtbag as a kid and actually like learn from it, grow from it, become a way better person. Like, I mean, like I don't think he's had any kind of I don't even think you I've heard any kind of negative story about Jeffrey Simmons since he came into the NFL, other than him like talking crazy to people and keeping it a buck with like the reporters and shit.
SPEAKER_00His his DV case was real because it was before he was rich.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, they were trying to get a bag. The next crash out we potential crash out we're gonna talk about could be a bag collecting attempt.
SPEAKER_00I think it is, because if it's true, it's it's not even close. It's by far.
SPEAKER_01Well, if it's true, I'm cooked.
SPEAKER_00If it's true, it's by far the crash out of the year.
SPEAKER_01No, I still wouldn't even call it the crash out of the year. I would. He did do some foul shit. The reasoning that she the things that she said about him aren't necessarily a crash out thing. I mean, you know.
SPEAKER_00Let's just get straight into it. It's Geno Smith, somebody you never thought you would hear as a DV case.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and and seriously, like I feel like the last person that I would expect to hear in any kind of DV thing is Geno Smith.
SPEAKER_00The claims are that he doesn't take care of his special needs child and watches porn and plays Call of Duty all day. Buddy. Let me tell you. If just those last two things are true, if he's watching porn and playing Call of Duty at the same time. That's diabolical. He's disappointed. I want to know, yeah, that's like a he needs help mentally. If he's on the game and he's talking to his homies and there's porn playing in the background, man, he's going to hell.
SPEAKER_01His agent, his agents hit him up and said, Hey, Gino, we got good news, man. You're getting traded to New York. He was like, Bet, I can watch porn with Abdul Carter in meetings. And they were like, too bad, buddy. It's the Jets. He's like, oh fuck. That's kind of insane. That is really insane, though.
SPEAKER_00The videos, there was also a video. The video's super fishy. There's not a ton of context behind it. It's kind of just her throwing out a bunch of claims, saying that he beat her ass. And her yelling at him. And she's on the phone with the cops. I don't I don't know. I don't really know what to make of it.
SPEAKER_01So, like, my takeaway, my takeaway from the video was my initial thing was in my head when I was watching the video, and he was like on the phone with somebody. I don't know who it was. I wonder if it was somebody like maybe like an agent or one of his friends or something, but he was like, She calling the cops, man. And I was like, the way he said it, I would have been like, he's cooked. Because he's saying that because like he did it and she calling the cops and now he's about to get in trouble.
SPEAKER_00But the so the case. But then the cops pull up to the crib and he doesn't get arrested. Right. So it that immediately for me is like, okay. And if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure, and people can fact check this, but I'm pretty sure in a DV case and the cops pull up, somebody has to get arrested unless they suspect it's a lie. Yeah, correct.
SPEAKER_01I feel like, and it goes back to the conversation that we were having the other. Obviously, we don't know what this woman looks like. I wouldn't expect a Geno Smith to be with a, you know, larger woman that could throw bangers with them. So I'm expecting this woman to probably be, you know, five, three, slim. Yeah, you know, the typical hundred pounds. The typical athlete chaser. So I feel like if, you know, you talk about you beat my ass, is what she said. Like you just beat my ass. If he first off, if he hit her one time, she's probably marked up. I mean, you're talking about a fucking professional athlete. 100%. This isn't a small, it's not me punching, punching you. You know, I'm not a big guy. But you're talking about someone who's what, 6'3, 240. Yeah, he's like 40.
SPEAKER_006'5, 6'6, 230. He's a large guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, you know, this guy beat your ass, and the cops pull up and he don't get arrested. I'm going to assume he did not beat your ass.
SPEAKER_00It seems fishy to me that he didn't get arrested. It obviously doesn't show that there was enough evidence on scene to have arrested him. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I think for me, for my thing with it is, is if that part of it's not true, like if he actually didn't beat her ass, then he I'm not going to assume that he also probably does not watch porn and play video games that are taking care of himself.
SPEAKER_00Right. Like, that's just her being salty.
SPEAKER_01So, like, yeah, it and for me, what I would think is if the if she's lying about one of it, she's lying about all of it, and she's salty because like he don't want her, or like, you know, he done he done got another chick, he been cheating or some shit like that. Right. Geno Smith doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that would even really like get mad. You know what I'm saying? Like, like he's the kind of person that gets mad, but he's not like yelling. Right. Like he doesn't think he like look to the guy that would give me kind of any kind of violent vibes. Like, we're talking about a guy that got rode off and didn't write back.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's used to being wrote off.
SPEAKER_01Man. And then then not only that, you know, they if you sleep on him, you know, he's just gonna wake you up. Let him keep sleeping. We're winning.
SPEAKER_00If this was true, the Jets would be so cooked. They'd yeah, well, they'd be even, yeah. It would be the Cade Klubnik show who you told me.
SPEAKER_01They would have had an opportunity, they would have had an opportunity to make up for Geno Smith's nefarious actions that could potentially be true.
SPEAKER_00However, the NFL said no.
SPEAKER_01They said we're gonna make sure that the Jets do not draft this kind of talent at quarterback and ruin his career.
SPEAKER_00I guess we can just hop straight into that. So this is dude, look, this is actually crazy. Like what the NFL came out and did today was actually nuts.
SPEAKER_01And guess what? I I feel like we're gonna have different takes on this. So I can't wait to I can't wait to get into this.
SPEAKER_00I don't like I don't I'm not saying I disagree with what they did. I don't know if it's like I don't know if they're actually able to do what they did. So Brendan Soresby had applied to enter into the supplemental draft, which doesn't happen every year, but that's because there's not players in the supplemental draft every year. So the last one that took place was I believe was in 23, nobody even got drafted in it. And then before that, I think it was 2018 or 2019.
SPEAKER_01Which is crazy because I feel like the only person that I remember ever even being drafted in the subtle supplemental draft was Terrell Pryor.
SPEAKER_00Josh Gordon?
SPEAKER_01I didn't even know that. Well, I probably knew it, I just didn't remember it. Like off the top of my head, the only one I think is Terrell Pryor. Because wasn't that when they did that uh like sign like selling the autograph shit for the bowl game?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean look, both Josh Gordon and Terrell Pryor ended up being pretty good. Josh Gordon was it would have been one of the sickest. Yeah, he would have been one of the sickest. But yeah, so it's not something that's terribly common. So there's years that it doesn't happen because that's just because there's nobody in it. There was gonna be somebody in it, somebody that most people thought of high value. And the whole gambling thing has come up for the reasoning of the NFL saying, hey, we're not gonna hold the supplemental draft this year. So they cited that. Did you read, like you read like the full affidavit? No, I didn't. I just I just read the headlines of Adam Schefter.
SPEAKER_01So I'll be able to fill you in, it might make a little bit more sense.
SPEAKER_00So what I read, what he's what Adam Schefter said was that they didn't have time to look into the gambling issue, which is crazy to me, and then they didn't want to cause a distraction to teams before the season. How accurate is that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't understand that part of it, but the full affidavit that they say, which I mean it's pretty long, so I'm not gonna read the whole thing, like read it obviously, but like the important parts of it is so basically what they said was when apparently whenever Soresby like applied for like the supplemental draft or whatever, like filed his shit, it was based off of basically like his reasoning for applying it was like he had been essentially banned from the NCAA for like the gambling shit.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01But and then they cited the the fact that you know they they said that they didn't have enough time to investigate everything that the NCAA had found. But part, but also too, is Brendan Soresby didn't all he also didn't like include any of that in his petition, like any of the investigation findings or anything like that. He was basically just like, I can't be in the NCAA, so I want to apply for the NFL supplemental draft. They also said that they hadn't had one in years, and they were originally like not even apply like they weren't going to do a supplemental draft at all this year before this, and he had applied like three days before the deadline. And I guess his applic application was almost just like him writing on a paper saying, supplemental draft because I can't play in the NCAA. And then they also started like citing like you know the fact that they needed to like make more take time to like do their own due diligence on like the gambling thing and stuff like that because of like the integrity of the game and stuff like that, and your in and the NFL stance on it and whatnot. And then they said at the end of it, you should probably just start working on your preparations to enter the 2027 draft.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I they're not wrong.
SPEAKER_01I don't look, I that seems you I feel like you think he should be in the supplemental draft.
SPEAKER_00Uh I don't it doesn't bother me one way or another. I get it. It's it seems fair to me. I know that his lawyer, his super duper high-paid lawyer, has come out and said that this is against the that immediate action was gonna be taken and blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_01But like honestly, for me, bro, like here's the thing. Just feel like when you come in with that hanging on your head, it's kind of hard. Like the for me, I don't even like the fact that like they were talking about him being a first or second round, like using a first or second round pick to be able to take him in this draft. Personally, me, I feel like he shouldn't have a chance to get in the NFL. Like, I mean, from just the perspective of like you you had a gambling addiction. Yes, I know most of it wasn't on anything doing with your team, but you did bet on your team at some points, even though you bet for them. At some point, with all of the shit that's going on in other leagues, like the NCAA gambling scandal, the NBA shit with Chauncey Billups and John Tay Porter, and like all the other people embedded in that, like not only that, like you can't you can't have that kind of risk in your league because one, we already questioned some shit being rigged with like referee decisions and shit, timely cause and no cause. So it's like you can't have, especially considering it's a quarterback and it's not gonna be a like it's a quarterback that people are talking about before all of this shit was going to be a first-round draft pick next year. Yeah, it's somebody that can actually affect the game. Yeah, you can't have that. You can't have that in a league when you're already like getting scrutinized for thinking the shit's rigged, but at the same time, it's like I also see it from the other perspective is like from the NFL, how are you gonna shit on Brendan Sorsby for gambling while you turn on the fucking TV and see your athletes working with gambling brands, and you're literally promoting like they're all sponsored by fair draft. Yeah, like you are you as a league are like partnering with these leagues yourself, so it's like they also like it almost feels like y'all are the ones that can be in bed to shit on us, but like the people that are a part of it can't be a part of it. Like we don't want everybody to win, just us.
SPEAKER_00There's also the hypocrisy of you cut the TV on every other day and there's a new domestic violence. Like there's some new NFL player that's beat his girlfriend or wife. Yeah, and I and I don't like they get second chances. I just, you know, like he will be in the NFL probably. Yeah. I mean, I feel his draft stock's definitely plummeted. Yeah, he'll be some, you know, he'll be like a sixth round waiver next year. Unless he, you know, he'll he'll 100% be in the combine, and if he goes crazy and has some.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I just feel like it's gonna be so hard to like take a for a team taking one, you're still gonna have this hanging over. It's not like this thing's just gonna like disappear. It's like, oh, he took off from football for a year. My thing with it is is if you're gonna let him come in the draft next year, like, why not just let them come in this year? Like, let them enter the draft. If the team wants to take a risk on them, let them take the risk. And look, you're doing so pending investigation by the NFL.
SPEAKER_00It it makes the risk a lot smaller for teams coming in next year, though.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, but fuck them. If you want to, if you knew that this was a thing coming into it, you still wanted to invest that potential first-round pick, you take that risk if you want to, and then when we do our due diligence, if we decide he's not gonna be a part of the league, then you fucked up by taking a chance on a dude who went against the integrity of the game.

SPEAKER_01I just feel like everybody else, like if we look at the precedent outside of uh, and really the only way that they were getting away with it is they weren't actually betting on games that they were involved in for or against their teams. They were just betting on other shit at team facilities. But like in the history of most sports, people that are involved with these games, when you're involved in a gambling scheme of like any kind, you're out of here. Which I mean, you know, Pete Rose, he only bet for his team, got banned.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but he was.
SPEAKER_01Then you got you had fucking Ed Hockley. Not Ed Hockley, not Ed Tim, what's Tim? What's the name? Was it Donahey? The dude for the NBA, the ref.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, hey, his story's fucking nuts. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But but you gotta think, bro, you think how many people involved, like honestly, that haven't been caught yet. Like, even NBA, all the bro, there's so many people that are out here playing their part in this shit. Didn't the ones that are getting caught, I just feel like are just fucking retarded. Like, I feel like I could I could manipulate gambling on unders by not faking injuries and shit. Like, I could just go and be weak as fuck. Like, if my line's 24 and a half, like I know I can go get 22 and nobody and not and then suck, and nobody's gonna go, oh, he just got cold down the street. Just had a bad game. SPEAKER_01It's happened to me a lot, too. Like you know, you know that there's gotta be some nefarious activity.
SPEAKER_00It's actually happened to me so much that I I for real, and you know me, I was a big props guy. You you gave up on them. Especially, especially before Kentucky legalized, you know, DraftKinks and FanDuel. I was always on underdog betting props. And, you know, you get cooked one too many times. You know, a guy has six assists in the first half, and he needs seven for you're telling me this man came out and played two whole quarters. Man, and didn't get a single assist. That's crazy. Like, you know that there are streaming. Oh, he must have gone for 40, right? No, he had 12 points. Yeah, right. Oh, he played 28 minutes. He played the entire second.
SPEAKER_01This line has hit this line has hit 20 out of the last 20 games. It seems that I am the black cat. 92% of the public's on the the over. All of a sudden, he gets right up to the line early in the game. Vegas made a call. They said, hey man, 92% of the public can't can't get rich off us, man. We're gonna need you to shoot.
SPEAKER_00That's what that's what we're gonna do.
SPEAKER_01All of a sudden you got point guards playing center and shit.

SPEAKER_01So the more you put in, the more you get out. So, you know, you we're gonna be making chump change because we're probably gonna be starting with, you know, $100, making two, three dollar bets in volume. But you know, eventually that $100 is gonna turn into $200, that two will turn into four and six, and then you know, those two dollar bets turn into ten dollar bets, and we just keep stacking. Man, and we look, you know, we done built up a ten thousand dollar bankroll somehow, and then we start betting $100, and we, you know, then at that point, you know, three to five percent on ten thousand every day, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I can promise you. When I when I make a hundred dollar bet, I will be locked in. I will be locked in as if I'm a coach.
SPEAKER_01Buddy, I'm locked in on every bet. If it's a dollar, ten cents, a hundred. If if I have a bet in, I want to win. I don't care how much I got invested in, and I'm locked in. Yeah, I get that. There's value in being right. I know like more than. the monetary value of winning. There's more value in saying I know what I'm doing.

SPEAKER_00So like the way we'll end up having to do it is we'll just have to go off the picks that aren't the same. Yeah. And that'll be the record that we go off of. Yeah. And those those days because I'm sure it's going to happen. And it happens every year in the NFL like, you know, there will be a game like the Cardinals versus the Bills.
SPEAKER_01I mean it might not be that I remember a few vividly. I I can remember not last season but the seasons before the Dallas Cowboys losing to the Cardinals is like a minus 900 dog.
SPEAKER_00Yeah right like it and it happens every year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah I mean it seems like it happens fucking every week.
SPEAKER_00It's the it's the great thing about it's the great thing about the NFL is the parody of it. Yeah. And you know I'm going to get real nervous I'm going to get real nervous those weeks where Parallax decides to take the New York Jets versus the Buffalo Bills and I'm like what?
SPEAKER_01Hold on I'm like that's an easy you're like you're like hold on I was thinking the spread was locked right well it's like Green Bay no I've never I'll never forget I'll never forget bro the last season I said I literally went public. I feel like this happens every time I like go publicly and just like hey this is like a bet you put your life savings on. Thank God nobody likes me and like listens to me. But I'll never forget it was the the Browns and the Packers I said I said the bread the Packers spread is is a bet that you just put every dollar amount in and like don't even like look at it until the until you know you just wake up and know that the bread's in your account.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01And buddy they lost as like 14 and a half point I was like this spread's covered. Yeah right and then the Packers come out and score what like six points or nine points or something like that.
SPEAKER_00That'll be the thing that will be the that'll be the funnest because if it starts to call like if it's able to start calling some of those upsets that do happen I mean might not be every week but it seems fairly regular. Yeah and it starts to call those I mean it's a game changer.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah we got I mean we got a game changer either way.
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying that like because you know like sometimes you have a feeling I mean that's where you become real sharp. Right. Like sometimes you have a feeling but you never want to act on it. Like sometimes you'll feel that like oh man like this is a this game like the weather's going to be shit.
SPEAKER_01It's the Browns it's you know like surely the Ravens aren't going to go into Cleveland and shit the bed but I mean if that's come out and shit the bed yeah right but you and you feel that way like you like you feel you're like man the weather's going to be terrible and it seems and and you know it seems like that happens at least for me which I'm sure you you're going to say the same thing. For me it's like I have that initial like I'm putting this on here this shit's a lock and then as you're putting it in you're like man I really shouldn't do this because the odds really aren't great. Like you're really just putting it on the ticket just to get that few extra you know that's like you feel like there's some shit. You're like this is going to be you put your ticket in and then you're like oh this shit everything else looks good and like as soon as you put it in you're like this is going to be the one that fucks me and it's the one that fucks and it's the same reason that we'll send each other the bet and be like who sells this? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know what I'm saying? Because if if if I send you something and I ask you and I'm like yo who sells this and you say the same thing that I was thinking yeah typically then I'm like oh like maybe this wasn't just a feeling like maybe this is real.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like maybe maybe the way that I felt that this could sell me is actually going to sell me because like you see it.
SPEAKER_01You see the same thing. Yeah typically and I think that's probably it's kind of the I think about it a lot. It's kind of one of the things that I feel like like is is and almost in a way like hurts us here is like we we feel the same type of way about a lot of things.
SPEAKER_00Like we don't disagree enough with our sports takes well I mean we're also not experts yeah no we're not but we're also not like we're not out here trying to be like hot take central I mean we have hot takes but we don't come out here and say no hot takes that we don't actually believe in.
